Business travel without the brochure copy.
I have written a substantial collection of published features for Travelling for Business, covering destinations across the UK, Europe, Africa and the United States. The work combines practical information for business travellers with the culture, food, history and experiences that make somewhere worth exploring once the working day is over.

The brief
Business travellers often experience a destination differently from leisure tourists. Time is limited, work comes first and useful information needs to be quickly accessible.
My features were written with that audience in mind, combining practical business-travel information with recommendations for making better use of the time around meetings, conferences and other professional commitments.
What I wrote
The work ranges from 48-hour city guides to broader features on business travel, transport and combining work with leisure. Each piece required research, structure and an understanding of what information would actually be useful to someone visiting a destination for business rather than simply compiling lists of tourist attractions.
- Destination features

Writing for people who happen to be travelling for work
Business-travel writing needs to be useful first. A reader may be deciding where to stay, how to get across a city, where to meet someone or what they can realistically do with a free evening.
But useful doesn’t have to mean dull. My approach combines practical information with enough personality, context and local colour to make the destination itself part of the story.
The result
A growing body of independently published editorial work covering destinations in Britain, Europe, Africa and the United States.
The collection demonstrates my ability to research unfamiliar subjects, structure useful long-form articles, adapt writing to an established publication and combine practical information with an engaging editorial voice.
